The main frieze depicts three racing quadrigae (four-horse chariots) and a standing fourth with Olympus holding the winner's palm and wreath. The names on the upper frieze are:

PYRAME (Pyramus)
EVTYCE (Eutychus - 'The Lucky One’)
IERAX (Hierax - 'The Falcon')
OLYMPE (Olympus), the winner

The lower frieze shows a hunt scene with seven animals set amongst trees.

A fairly common beaker, although no absolutely complete example has yet been found. Fragments are in museum collections in Vindonissa Museum Brugg, Baden, Lausanne and other sites in Switzerland, Xanten and Rottweil in Germany, Museum Het Valkhof in the Netherlands and the Museum Of London, York, and Colchester Museums in England, as well as several others. Our reproduction is based upon the Couvin and Colchester examples.
