Ordering, Postage, Payment, Import Duty & Safety Introduction to Circus Beakers Beakers From Our Wood-fired Furnace
Four named charioteers are depicted driving quadrigae (four-horse chariots): three racing, one standing:
EUTYCHE (Eutychus - 'The Lucky One')
OLYMPE (Olympus)
FARIE (Farienus)
FERIX ('The Wild One' - unusually, for a winner, not the standing driver) holds a victory palm and wreath
The lower frieze shows a hunt scene with nine animals set amongst trees.
Ferix is the winner, and holds aloft his victory palm and laurel crown in celebration. Beneath the main frieze is a hunt scene with wild animals pursued through a wood by dogs.
This is a reproduction of the virtually intact beaker found at Schönecken, Germany, and now in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier. Several other examples from the same mould or archetype are known, from Rouen and Mayence in France as well as several finds in Germany.
Height: 6.6cm Diameter at rim: 8.2cm Capacity: 250ml
