A reasonably common mould-blown shape in the late Roman world, spanning the 3rd and 4th centuries CE. It is usual for them to have a series of lightly engraved bands around the body. They are pale green or yellow-green, and there is often a constriction at the shoulder. The lip is cracked off, and the base does not have a pontil mark. There are several in the Romanisches Germanisches Museum, Cologne (Fremersdorf, F. (1984) Die farblosen Gläser der Frühzeit in Köln, Nos.198-207, pp.88-93).

079a: This bottle is blown into a wooden 'turn-mould', with a diameter of 7.2cm. The body is plain, and has no horizontal engraved rings. The cut-off lip is ground and polished to make it safe. Each reproduction is supplied with a leather cord.
