Gallery Of Glass For Sale - 18th century Glasses - Baluster and Balustroid Glasses

Baluster-stemmed glasses date to the early 18th century: c.1715 to c.1730, and tend to be slightly lighter in construction, with taller stems than heavy balusters. Balustroids are a little later in the century: c.1730 to c.1750, tending to have tall stems and are generally light in construction, with their proportions anticipating those of glasses from later in the century. In collectors terms the distinctions between these categories often appears blurred, although the trend is towards lightness in construction.
