Gallery Of Glass For Sale - Vessels blown at our Wood-fired Furnace at Quarley
Ordering, Postage, Payment, Import Duty & Safety For more Roman vessels, see our Roman Glass Gallery Page
These vessels were mould-blown at our wood-fired furnace, using a fired clay mould, and the rim and base are not completely circular (see photos on the right). Please look at the large photos by clicking on the thumbnail photos.
NB: Mould-blown beakers are free of any surface dulling as they have not been reheated to any great extent in the furnace.
We do not make Lotus Beakers to order - these are individual vessels that are in stock and can be purchased as seen.
Average capacity: 160ml
Lotus beakers date to the late 1st century CE.
The almond knob or lotus pattern is often interpreted as a stylised representaton of Hercules' wooden club. Most examples are amber or pale green in colour, although cobalt blue vessels are known.
