Gallery Of Glass For Sale - Vessels blown at our Wood-fired Furnace at Quarley
Ordering, Postage, Payment, Import Duty & Safety For more Post-medieval bottles, see our Post-medieval Glass Gallery Page
These vessels were blown at our wood-fired furnace. They all have some attack from the furnace atmosphere on their outer surfaces - some more so than others. It usually shows as a dulling and milkiness on the surface. See this page for a short discussion on this phenomenon. Please look at the large photos by clicking on the thumbnail photos, although the effect is not always noticeable on them.
These beakers have varying amounts of glass attack on them, and as the photos disguise the surface attack, we have graded them with numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3, with '3' being the worst. The grading number is written directly on the beaker:
0: Fire-polished wall, with no discernible attack.
1: A very slight bloom or milkiness on the surface.
2: A noticeable amount of bloom on the surface.
3: A noticeable amount of bloom, as well as some heavier attack which shows as rough areas. The rough areas are usually associated with the deposition of carbon on the surface of the glass, which appears to act as a start point for more attack.
We have priced the beakers to reflect the surface attack. If you want a beaker that looks as though it has been around a bit, then these are for you!
Footed Cylindrical Beakers date to the first half of the 17th century. Here is a short article on them.

We do not make Footed Cylindrical Beakers to order - these are individual vessels that are in stock and can be purchased as seen.
