The Woodpile

The fallen trees on the farm from the November 2021 storms has provided a serious boost to our stock of wood, and will provide us with fuel well into 2024 and 2025. We have also engaged in some foraging - the farm bonfire area is a good source of wood!

The woodshed has also provided us with a handy and easy way to work out the volme of wood burnt per firing.

We try to use as much of the wood as possible: as well as sorting the wood destined for the lehr from that for the furnace, we also collect the larger splinters and small fragments to use for lighting. Even some of the sawdust has been used as mulch!
